Anger Management
A good book to read with children to help them understand their feelings of anger is, ‘The Red Beast’. The book looks at how our bodies feel when we angry and gives us strategies we can use to help us calm down. To follow on from reading the book I have completed a social story with the child. We have looked specifically at issues that make the child feel angry, frustrated or upset and the behaviours that they display. We discuss how our body feels when we are experiencing these emotions so they can start to recognise these within themselves. We discuss it is normal to feel these emotions but we need to deal with them in an appropriate manner. We then look at the strategies we can use to help ourselves calm down and practise using them appropriately.
