Golden Hill Prefects
School Prefects are chosen by the staff; they are children, primarily Year 6, who have shown they always follow the school rules, follow our values, have outstanding behaviour and attitude towards learning - they are our role model! It is considered to be a prestigious position.
Prefects are, in a sense, junior members of staff and are expected to take their role seriously. The position not only allows pupils to lead by example and demonstrate their responsibility, it also enables new children and the younger children to learn from a good example which is why they are carefully selected.
Once chosen they will be awarded badges to wear and their position made known to other children within the school.
Even though child has been offered a Prefect role within school, if their attendance, attitude to learning or behaviour changes they may have their prefect status removed, however, they can reapply the following term.
Due to the transient nature of our school. Perfect positions will be offered for a term. At the start of each term children can apply for the role. Serving Prefects can also re-apply.
Prefects will be thanked at the end of each term with a Prefects ‘thankyou’ breakfast.
Prefect roles and responsibilities
Golden Hill Prefects must lead by example at all times in their behaviour and the respect they show to others. They take on many roles and have many responsibilities, such as:
- Being a role model for other children, including attendance and behaviour.
- Wearing the school uniform correctly and with pride (either Golden Hill or their mainstream school)
- Organising other pupils at celebration assembly and at taxi time.
- Encouraging children to move around the school calmly and quietly
- Showing visitors around the school
- Helping in the dining hall and play times.
- Working with classes during indoor playtimes.
They are not expected to carry out all these duties themselves but are involved in the organising and delegating of these tasks to fellow Prefects.
