Music Learning at Golden Hill

Golden Hill is a Lancashire Music Hub Lead School.

At Golden Hill, classes are usually mixed age groups, sometimes crossing Key Stages. Classes have a wide variety of ability and children have already completed various topics at their mainstream schools. Children often come into school disengaged from their learning and start at different points during the school year depending on when they have been excluded or referred. Children may arrive or leave mid-way through a topic.

Teachers plan from the most relevant age group for their class. This can change during the year.  Please see the most recent newsletter to find out what each class is learning. To accommodate differing abilities of children, work is differentiated using a variety of resources.

During Autumn term 2, Music is taught for the half term. We use the Charanga scheme and each pupil in school has their own log in so that they can access the web based learning platform both in and out of school.

A specialist teacher is employed during the half term who teaches pupils during their time at Golden Hill. In addition, the Lancashire Music Service Mobile bus is utilised in each term where all pupils can access a range of musical instruments taught by musical specialists.

This year we are also offering each class the opportunity to attend a lunchtime music club for 1 half term each. Here they will have the opportunity to try out a range of musical instruments and learn how to play tuned and percussion instruments.
